Our team partnered with New York City-based non-profit organization Laureus USA to produce a mini documentary about Chicago’s Lost Boyz Inc., a non-profit organization committed to decreasing violence and improving the social and emotional conditions of the youth in Chicago’s South Shore community through baseball and softball.

The Concept

When we met with Laureus USA and Lavonte Stewart, founder of Lost Boyz Inc., we discussed which direction was best to guide their story. It was important that we reflect the true culture of South Shore while highlighting how baseball had become such an influence in their community. By focusing on Stewart’s journey, after a short term in prison, as well as the connected struggles the Lost Boyz players experienced growing up on the south side, our story would come together beautifully.

Meet LaVonte Stewart

After serving a short term in prison, LaVonte Stewart, a lifelong south side resident and founder of Lost Boyz Inc., became inspired to give back to his community’s youth. Through baseball and softball training, he helps provide a safe space where he can teach leadership and life lessons to neighborhood kids.

Behind the Scenes

With only three days of filming we made it our mission to really immerse ourselves into the south side culture and come to know the Lost Boyz family. We could not thank LaVonte and the players enough for being so vulnerable and trusting of our team with their stories.

The Result

Our short film debuted at Laureus USA’s Sport for Good Fashion Show fundraiser during New York Fashion Week where star athletes helped raise $350,000 for disadvantaged youth across the U.S.
